Project Description

Considered one of the masterpieces of Robert Trent Jones. In his book entitled Golf’s Magnificent Challenge, published in 1988, he cited this course as one of his five favourites among the more than 500 courses he has designed worldwide.

Inaugurated in 1964, Sotogrande was Trent Jones’ first European golf course and it encompasses his entire design philosophy, which consisted in designing courses that were perfectly integrated into the natural environment, that provided a significant challenge for the best players but which were also accessible and enjoyable for all levels.

The 6,304-metre course, par 72, features long tees, wide fairways and fast, subtly-shaped elevated greens, which pose the greatest difficulty on the course. Of the hundred bunkers, 69 are around the greens, requiring maximum accuracy from the player when attacking the pins.
